How to use the JSON Formatter

Is my JSON sent to a server?

No. Formatting and validation happen in your browser, so API keys and private data stay on your device.

What does minify do?

Minify removes all spaces and line breaks, which makes the JSON as small as possible for sending or storing.

What does sort keys do?

It orders the keys of every object alphabetically, which makes two JSON files easier to compare.

Why is my JSON invalid?

Common causes are trailing commas, single quotes instead of double quotes, and keys without quotes. The error message shows where the problem is.
