How to use Compress Image to 1 MB

    1. Drop your images into the box, or click it to choose them.
    2. Each image is compressed to a JPG just under 1 MB, with the best quality that fits.
    3. Download each image. It is ready to upload.

Getting big photos under 1 MB

A limit of 1 MB is common for profile photos, competition entries, property and car listings, support forms and many upload fields. It is generous enough for high-resolution photos, but a photo straight from a modern phone or camera is often 3 to 10 MB, so it still needs shrinking.

    Keeping full quality

At 1 MB, most photos keep their full resolution at very high quality. That is enough for viewing on any screen, zooming in, and standard photo prints. The tool lowers quality only as much as needed and reduces the dimensions only for extremely large or detailed images.

    Handy for email

Most email services allow around 20 to 25 MB per message, and attachments grow by about a third when they are sent. Photos under 1 MB each let you send 15 or more in one email without bouncing.

    Tips

    • iPhone photos are often HEIC. Convert them with HEIC to JPG first.
    • Many photos for one recipient? Combine them into a single document with JPG to PDF.
    • Need a specific size in pixels? Use the Image Resizer.
    • Different limit? Use the size buttons above, or type any size into the field.

    Private and unlimited

All compression happens in your browser. Your photos are never uploaded, and you can process as many as you like.

    Questions

Why do sites limit images to 1 MB?

A 1 MB limit keeps uploads fast while still allowing high-resolution photos. It is common for profile photos, listings, competitions and support forms.

Can I still print the photo?

Yes. A 1 MB JPG usually keeps the full resolution of a phone photo at high quality, which is enough for standard photo prints.

How many photos fit in one email?

Most email services allow about 20 to 25 MB per message, so around 15 to 20 photos at 1 MB each fit comfortably.

Does it work with iPhone photos?

Convert HEIC photos to JPG first with HEIC to JPG, then compress them here.
